:: Chris Evans ::

     Chris Evans directs the student media program at the University of Vermont. In practical terms, this means he advises students in their independent efforts to produce a weekly newspaper (The Vermont Cynic), a 24/7 radio station (WRUV-FM) and an on-campus television station (UVMtv).
     Chris started his career as a print journalist, reporting for newspapers in the Gannett newspaper chain—the corporate home of The Burlington Free Press—and has spent time as a fiction writer, copy-editor, Peace Corps volunteer and writing teacher. Chris received his MFA from New York University and currently hosts a blues music show on WRUV that features Vermont writers of fiction, poetry and nonfiction prose.
     Though in adulthood he's rarely lived in any locale more than three years, Chris has spent the last five years in Burlington and expects to stay here until he sees high-school graduation from his two daughters, Maddi (age 9—a visual artist and violinist) and Dommi (age 4—reader extraordinaire and cute-enthusiast who could charm your heart away). The people of Chittenden County are the best he's found anywhere, and, though a post-Kansas itinerant life was previously the norm, Chris says he can't think of any reason to leave this wonderful community in Vermont.
     Chris will bring wonderful talent to the VCAM board. This is the pitch.
