More great live election coverage!
Kudos to sister channel CCTV - 17 on their excellent live coverage of local election results today. Each year they have improved their coverage to the point where they are actually much better than the network affiliates at getting accurate, up to the minute info on the incoming results. I'm watching Jess Wilson on channnel 17 right now and she's doing a great job!
Great locally-relevant content like theirs and like VCAM's live Shelburne Town Meeting coverage last night are terrific examples of how government access serves our communities.

Thanks Bill! It was an adventure because after more than 15 years of providing live election coverage we weren't sure what to expect with IRV. Hope your live meeting went well!

So as I was marvelling at how great the coverage was on CCTV I got to thinking about how the 3 channels compliment each other nicely in that our P, E & G missions are so distinct and each serve the public in different, but important ways, and then today I saw a show that was just coverage of a Radio Bean open mic night and thought "wha?" I mean, I like those Bean open mics as much as the next person, but how is that "government" access? Just curious.

Just back on-line after several days off (nice to see you in the airport by the way and sorry about your travel woes) and saw your comment. The Radio Bean open mic is certainly far from "government" access though we do try to use as broad a definition as possible. We have been boosting public training efforts and that piece was produced by an independent producer. He has since been sent your way because the content he really wants to produce is a much better fit at Channel 15.
