Expanding Our Community Space: For A Media Making Factory

VCAM and RETN are combing forces (again) to manifest our shared missions for helping the community make top notch media here at our Burlington, VT studios. Together, we aim to draw in more of the community for making and sharing media by more than doubling our physical space into a state of the art education and viewing space, a community radio station studio, and expanded services for our current members. Join us as we build a media factory for the next generation of media makers.

Burlington Media Factory

What is the Plan?

  • Phase one of the project begins in the summer of 2015 to get us ready for fall film screenings and media classes this fall.
  • Phase two dramatically alters the current VCAM and RETN spaces to better serve members with gear rentals, studio production prep and green room area, and editing stations.
  • Phase three shifts our staff around to increase staff collaboration, break out spaces for creative sparking, and gear repairs.
  • Phase four finishes up the project with final customization of the space and artistic flare.

Excited? Help us make this happen by being a funder of the factory!

If you are already a member or supporter of VCAM or RETN, you know that much of our work over the last 25+ years has been funded by cable corporation mandates to ensure that the public kept its right to the "airwaves." In this new age of media consumption on the web, many community media centers having to reinvent how we do what we do to keep pace. All this new innovation requires new funding support — which is why we are looking to our long-time members, viewers, and fans to help fund this new work. Be part of the future of media making and support our Fund the Factory capital campaign with a quick and secure donation today and/or share this awesome project with another media lover. And thanks!
