Please welcome the newest member of the VCAM team, multidisciplinary artist Athena Kafantaris! Athena's love of cables and connections began when she learned how to connect an Atari 2600—her brother was the only one who knew how to hook it up and would disconnect it when he left the house so no one else could play. She's been crawling behind TVs and plugging things in ever since. Get to know Athena with these 5Qs!

1. If there were a movie about your life, who would play you?

If only Eleanor Audley were still with us...

2. What is your fav piece of VCAM tech gear and why?

I'm a big fan of snake cables. They are just fantastic.

3. What is the funniest thing that’s happened to you recently?

I thought I'd lost a cat but she was just hiding.

4. Tell us something we might not know (a factoid that you have retained for no particular reason).

Peacocks shake their feathers to attract mates, creating a low-frequency, vibratory sound that can't be heard by humans.

5. If you had to put your life bio into one run-on sentence, what would you say?

I was born in Richmond, VA and lived in Brooklyn where I learned some things at Pratt and I also lived in Boston where I learned some things at SMFA before moving to Burlington in 2004 and I nearly ended up living in Richmond, VT, which would have been pretty funny considering that Vermont is the only other "V" state so I settled here in glorious Burlington and have been happily making stuff in the South End ever since.
