The Hinesburg Selectboard meets the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Hinesburg Town Hall. Meetings are open to the public. To request to be on a meeting agenda, contact the Town Administrator.
The Selectboard, made up of five elected members, is the central point of Hinesburg's local town government and is responsible for the general supervision of the town's affairs, acting as the town's official legal representative.
Its three main functions are: to enact town ordinances, regulations, and policies; to prepare and present a town budget and tax rate for the town, as well as oversee all town expenditures, personnel, and property; and to perform quasi-judicial responsibilities on topics including but not limited to local board of health appeals, local liquor control, town right-of-way decisions and reclassifications, and personnel matters.
It is the responsibility of the Town Administrator to implement decisions from the board.
The Selectboard is also responsible for appointing representatives to town boards and commissions, and filling other town vacancies as they arise.
