This edition of Salaam Shalom: Report on Palestine/Israel is devoted to two important topics: Israel’s war crimes in Gaza in 2014 and its unremitting violence against Palestinian children. Two documentaries aired on this program were produced by Amnesty International: The Gaza Platform and Black Friday: Carnage in Rafah. They demonstrate categorically that Israel committed war crimes against the people of Gaza over 51 days in 2014. They document as well the brilliant use of cutting-edge computer technology, in collaboration with Forensic Architecture at Goldsmiths, University of London, to expose the fallacy of Israel’s assertion that it took all necessary measures to protect civilians in Gaza in 2014. These documentaries are chilling, damning of the official Israel record of the 2014 war, and deserving of a wide audience. This program also explores the murder of a Palestinian toddler in the West Bank by Jewish settlers in a firebombing—a “price tag” attack—on July 31, and the disproportionate amount of violence suffered by Palestinian children in general at the hands of Israel’s occupation forces.
