The Vermont Association for the Education of Young Children (VAEYC), Let’s Grow Kids, The Media Factory, and statewide and regional partners hosted an early childhood panel for gubernatorial candidates Sue Minter and Phil Scott on Friday, October 14. The panel was moderated by WCAX News Anchor Darren Perron.

Vermont's shortage of high-quality, affordable child care is an economic development issue which impacts Vermont’s economy now and in the future, as well as our families, communities and businesses. The shortage of high-quality, affordable child care means that too many of our children don't have access to the early care and learning opportunities they need for success in relationships, school and life. And children aren't the only ones who lose: a lack of child care also negatively impacts Vermont's families, employers and our economy. This panel will allow the candidates for governor to highlight their positions on these challenges, to offer solutions and to answer questions about their plans.
