This edition of Salaam Shalom: Report on Palestine/Israel is inspired by the recent popular uprising in the occupied Palestinian territories by tens of thousands of predominantly Palestinian youth. They are revolting against decades of brutal occupation and Israel's regime of settler-colonialism. On this episode, we will air two documentaries. The first, Caught on Camera: Israel's Arbitrary Killings and Its System of Structural Violence, looks at a series of extra-judicial killings and woundings of Palestinians by Israeli police and soldiers. The film was produced by a European human rights organization. The second documentary, Hunger Strike, was produced by Al Jazeera. It is a graphic and compelling study of the use of hunger strikes by Palestinian prisoners, which began as early as 1969, to protest the Israeli occupation and cruel penal system. Special thanks to Danny Weiss, co-producer and technical director.

Produced with facilities provided by Vermont Community Access Media (VCAM).
