A movie created by Mark Utter, co-directed by Jim Heltz and Emily Anderson.

This movie shows a day in Mark's life before he had access to "supported typing". In it, a visitor from his intelligent mind tells us what he's really thinking.

For much of his life, Mark Utter, a man of exceptional intelligence, has been unable to communicate verbally, his thoughts and observations of the world trapped in his head.  Most people assumed he had the mind of a child. Now, through an innovative form of alternative communication, Mark is able to slowly type his thoughts.

The film, I Am In Here, humorously reveals Mark’s unique observations of our world. The premise is a typical day in his life filled with communication barriers, social obstacles, and Mark’s wry observations as he negotiates them.

Produced with facilities provided by Vermont Community Access Media (VCAM).
