This episode shares the perspectives of two distinguished journalists on occupied Palestine, the state of Israel, and the Palestine national liberation struggle.

Abby Martin, host of The Empire Files, narrates a documentary on the history of the Palestinian refugee crisis combined with a focus on the West Bank refugee camps of Aida and Balata. This is the third in a three-part series on the occupied territories produced by Ms. Martin after she traveled there earlier this year. We aired the first two episodes on earlier programs.

Amira Haas, who is Jewish and one of Israel’s most courageous and veteran reporters, writes for the Israeli daily Ha’aretz. The daughter of Holocaust survivors, she has reported on and lived for several years in the occupied territories, including Gaza.  Her book Drinking the Sea at Gaza: Days and Nights in a Land under Siege should be required reading for activists, scholars and journalists. Ms. Haas speaks with veteran war correspondent Chris Hedges, host of Russia Today’s On Contact, about a wide range of issues, including aspects of Zionism and Israeli history, of the current political regime under Netanyahu and its policies, and of Palestinian life and resistance.
