This edition of Salaam Shalom: Report on Palestine/Israel examines the history and inner workings of Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security police. The secret agency, whose origins date back to the founding of the state, is notorious for its use of torture, murder, assassinations, arbitrary arrests and detentions, and the use of collaborators against the Palestinian citizens of Israel and the four million Palestinians under occupation. We will show Inside Shin Bet, a film by Essam Billan, which comes to us courtesy of Al Jazeera. This edition will also feature a Real News Network analysis of the recent Israeli elections featuring Shir Hever, an Israeli journalist and economist with the Alternative Information Center in Jerusalem.

Produced with equipment and facilities provided by Vermont Community Access Media (VCAM).
