This edition of Salaam Shalom: Report on Palestine Israel features an extended interview with James Marc Leas, a Vermont attorney and human rights activist. Leas recently made a submission on behalf of the Palestine Subcommittee of the National Lawyers Guild to The United Nations Independent Commission of Inquiry on the 2014 Gaza Conflict.  This UN fact-finding mission is investigating all alleged violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law in all the Palestinian territories, but particularly in the Gaza Strip, in the wake of Israel’s massive assault on the territory last summer.  The Commission’s report is expected sometime this March.  This program will also broadcast excerpts from testimony by Palestinian writer and blogger Laila El-Haddad at a Capitol Hill briefing in Washington on August 1, 2014.  Haddad lost 8 members of her extended family, including children, in Gaza from two Israeli missile strikes on their home.

Produced with facilities provided by Vermont Community Access Media (VCAM).
