The title of this edition of Salaam Shalom: Report on Palestine/Israel is taken from a documentary we air by PressTV. It examines the savage violence unleashed by Israel on Gaza in the summer of 2014 and its traumatic impact on the lives of Gaza’s children and their families. 551 Palestinian kids were killed over 51 days in the 2014 attack. Viewers are advised that the content of this video is graphic and disturbing. In addition to this video, there are several reports, also of a graphic nature, on the willful killing and injuring of Palestinians by Israel’s occupation and security forces produced by the Alternative Information Center in Jerusalem, the International Solidarity Movement, and Al Jazeera Arabic.

This program opens with a report by Russia Today on Palestinian hunger striker, political prisoner, and journalist Mohammed Al-Qeq, who, as of Thursday, Feb. 25, had refused food for 93 days, followed by a plea for justice and support from Mohammed’s wife. Interspersed with the news are videos of solidarity from a British rap artist, Swedish activists, and Jewish Voice for Peace, and a brief documentary by AJ+ on the scope of support worldwide for Palestinian statehood. Since 1988, more than 130 countries have recognized the State of Palestine.
