Robert Burch has been blowing glass for about 48 years, and he's also one of the founding members of the Putney Craft Tour, now in its 41st year. This Thanksgiving weekend, about 4,000 people will visit 22 artists studios on the backroads of Putney. Bob’s glassblowing studio is one of those stops, and guests will also be able to examine his son Ryan’s pottery in the house next door. Bob’s daughter Caitlin will be welcoming visitors to her home studio, where she makes lampwork jewelry. The tour has become a tradition for many travelers, attracting holiday shoppers to the backwoods of Vermont, where creativity thrives.

We spent an afternoon at the Robert Burch Studio in Putney to meet the multigenerational family of crafters. Rachel Fritz Schaal stopped by with a cheese delivery from the award-winning Parish Hill Creamery, another stop on the tour. The Putney Craft Tour will be held November 29 through December 1 this year.
