River of Light: Harvest Moon Winooski Paddle [SIV460]
9/16/16: More than 60 people embarked on a moonlit adventure Friday night on the lower Winooski River in brightly lit kayaks, canoes, and SUPs on a River of Light Harvest Moon Winooski Paddle. Friends of the Winooski River, a watershed protection group, organized this event which they plan to make annual. Their goal is to protect and restore the Winooski River and hope that events like this will get people to enjoy and preserve this 90-mile waterway. The flotilla put in at Heineberg Bridge in Colchester and made their way down the twisty tributary to Lake Champlain where they were met by cheering bicyclists on the former train bridge.
Eva enjoyed the evening escapade on her stand-up paddleboard and joined the revelers in howling at the Harvest moon.
Music: Iron Eyes Cody, "The Bayou"; The Cush, Between the Leaves, "Geuraldi (peace like a river)"; Claude Debussy, Suite Bergamasque, "Clair de Lune", performed by Caela Harrison
